Building Inspector states ordinance violated
07/24/22 5:13 PM

Dear Dr. Graves, We installed a privacy fence on our private property without a permit. We just received a letter stating the fence at 6 ft. exceeds the 4 ft. height limit. We see many examples of fences along the same road that are the same height as ours.

We own our private property. The inspector is calling it residential property.

The building inspector is eroding my property rights by asserting authority and jurisdiction over it.

I was going to FOIA him to ask how he has made his determination. I want to know if there is a living man or woman claiming my fence is harming them.

I've tried to search for the Brandon Twp charter on line and can't find it. Do you know where the charter might reside? I will go to the twp in person on Monday as well.

Isn't it true that ordinances cannot over ride property rights?

Can you please advise on next steps

Tracy B

you should look into getting your land patent . Ron Gibson is leading authority on land patents. To put them off I would remind them that you do not have a contract with the city or county you live in . City is a private for profit corporation and must conduct itself as so therefore you would need to be under contract with them in some form or another for them to have jurisdiction over you .
