Serving the "right" person in small claims
08/02/22 1:19 PM

I am filing in small claims against a woman who owns a franchise for breach of contract and other issues. The City has told me her full legal name and that the business is an LLC.

I want to make sure I am serving the right person. The California form SC-104C says if it's an LLC I serve the agent of service. The Secretary of State website doesn't find the business when I search for it.

Can I just use her full legal name and business name and serve her directly at the place of business?

If you go to Bizapedia.com. and type in business name and state it comes up with the business and shows who is acting as agent and their address to serve them. Their info is collected from the states corporation commission. If that doesn't help try opencorporates.com.
