Hi,I'm in Canada and am being sued for defamation.
About 4 years ago I blew the whistle on the administration running the local Rural Municipal government. They took issue with what i said on Face Book and sent a lawyer after me. I discovered the administrater called the lawyer before the meeting took place voting on whether to sue me or not. I had the demand letter delivered to me before the meeting took place. Long story short, the Reeve and a couple of councillors pushing to sue me lost the election. I posted on my FB page I have for government corruption that the out going bunch were theives and scoundrels and a that the new administration should push for a forensic audit. Then the administrater decided to sue me herself as she lost her job through no fault of mine. She filed a statment of claim alledging I defamed her, adding what I said in my FB posts and wanted costs.
She is using the same lawyer as the rural municipal government used against me in a case thats directly related. Does the lawyer have an obligation to his former client (the RM) in risking them harm? How does the lawyer use info from his former client in representing his current client against me? Isn't that a blatent conflict of interest?
