Title VII question Reasonable Accommodation
02/22/23 7:54 AM

I work for a company that changed their dress code policy to include a mandatory masking policy.
I invoked my right to a religious accommodation under Title VII.
I sent 3 registered letters and received no response. After the fourth I finally had a brief meeting with HR. I was offered a demotion with a pay decrease outside the store to segregate me from customer contact. I was offered a change in shifts to limit my exposure to people or I could refuse to comply and be disciplined for failure to comply and possible termination. I stated that I would temporarily comply till legal reviewed my request. Months went by with no reply. The mask requirement went away. I renewed my request for accommodation just in case the monkey business started again. I had a meeting with the new head of HR and asked to review my request and asked for the names of those reviewing my request so I could address them with any questions I may have regarding their decision. I have received no response in two months now. Michigan Statute of limitations is 3 years to file. I am approaching 2 years. I believe the company is stalling. Should I file to force the company to come to the table and get my accommodation request on record for the future if the company changes its policy again?

The mask law group on telegram has files you could look over that might be helpful.

Have you purchased/finished studying the How To Win In Court Without A Lawyer course, offered via this website?

It’s illegal for a company to refuse you reasonable accommodations. That’s an EEOC violation and you should reach out to them to begin the investigation process or you can take them directly to court if you so please but the EEOC investigation should help that be resolved and if not they will also push the case to federal court to get you the remedy you deserve.
